Dreaming of a Homeless Christmas

Pookiebadmuffin looks at his monitor and sees a message from one RunsOnSumatra regarding a matter of much urgency.

A homeless guy is in distress! He's downtrodden. He's "less fortunate". He's got a cold!

Pookie wants to help. He really does. He looks at the homeless guy's Christmas wish list. Pookie wipes the tears from his eyes as he reads the modest list. The list conveys a sense of urgent need. Pookie is so overcome by emotion that he fumbles his attempt to embolden the word NON-DROWSY in his own blog post. After all, is this man not our brother? We are, in Homeless Guy's own words, "social creatures".

I mean, this guy clearly works hard at not working. He provides for himself as best as he can. He puts his freely provided pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us. Only, after he puts them on, he hangs out at Starbucks and posts to a blog from his broken laptop in his obviously limited spare time.

Perhaps Pookie should buy him the Starbucks gift card that Homeless Guy says would be a "real blessing". Perhaps Pookie should don his Santa Claus hat and issue Homeless Guy the new laptop that he so desires.

Or maybe ... just maybe ... Pookie should give him what he is longing for, but doesn't have the heart to ask for. Maybe this Homeless Guy has an unspoken wish list item. Maybe Pookie is just the guy to provide it.

Fortunately, Pookie has heard this man's silent need. As usual, Pookie has delivered. His care package? A nice, swift, kick in the backside.
