Backpacking Agenda: Woody Gap to Neel’s Gap
Friday, August 1st, 2008
Another quick backpacking trip planned for this weekend. This one’s short and easy… just a quick way to knock out another 10 miles or so of the AT over a weekend. It includes one of my favorite places in GA: Blood Mountain.
Saturday:
- Park endpoint car at Neel’s Gap (near 34.73480, -83.91800)
- Park startpoint car at Woody Gap (near 34.67650, -84.00050)
- Hike 7 miles from Woody Gap
- Set up camp near Woods Hole Shelter
Sunday:
- Get up… whenever
- Hike an easy 3.6 miles from Woods Hole Shelter, up and over Blood Mountain (elevation 4458 ft.), to Neel’s Gap
- Grab pizza, etc. at Mountain Crossings
- Head back to Woody Gap to pick up other car
- Home!
